Local History Collections Exhibit - An Archaeological and Early History of Kingston

This new exhibit, An Archaeological and Early History of Kingston, features historic, archival materials from the Library's Local History Collections on the many different aspects of Kingston's archaeological history and early history. The exhibit primarily focuses on notable archaeological digs and efforts in Kingston, and the historic artifacts and materials related to them and the story they tell . Additionally, this exhibit has a significant focus on Native American artifacts and Native American history related to Kingston and the surrounding area. There is also an emphasis on the early colonial period of Kingston's history, and the information learned about this period through archaeological and historical research. Archaeological artifacts in the Library's Local History Collections from the AC-4 Rose Stone Collection of Allerton Artifacts and AC-1 John L. Cram Artifact Collection, are the two main artifact collections on display.
This new exhibit will be up and viewable Wednesday, December 4th through Thursday, December 19th at the Adams Center. The exhibit’s open house will be held on Wednesday, December 4th 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Adams Center. There will be a talk and presentation on the exhibit by the Archivist on Saturday, December 7th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The exhibit hours are: Mondays 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesdays 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesdays 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Thursdays 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
